Shoe Care

If you consider that Barker shoes take several weeks to make and can last a life-time, it's well worth taking a little time to care for your investment. Here are some simple guidelines:

• Always clean shoes regularly by cleaning off any surplus dirt with a brush or damp cloth
• For leather shoes apply a quality shoe polish or cream and buff off with either a dry cloth or a brush
• For suede shoes brush up the nap with a suede brush
• For Nubuck shoes wipe with a cloth dipped in slightly soapy, warm water
• If shoes are wet let them dry naturally as quality calf leather shoes require a slow natual drying process
• The use of a shoe tree is recommended as it will help to retain the shape of the shoe

The Barker Repair Service

Most Barker shoes can be completely rebuilt by the same craftsmen who made them. Whenever they need repairing, simply take them to your local Barker stockist who will return them to our factory in Earls Barton.

There are certain shoes, however, which cannot be repaired, due to their construction (i.e. non welted), and we will be pleased to advise customers which styles this applies to.

In particular, the addition of stick-on soles can cause problems with balance and distortion of the shoe. Barkers cannot accept responsibility for repairs to footwear which have had stick-on soles applied.

If shoes have been repaired by a third party we are, regrettably, unable to offer this service and accept no liability for the quality of the work undertaken. This does not affect your statutory rights.
